Melbourne: Fitzroy North

by

Fitzroy North is little pocket of a neighbourhood that has too often been overshadowed by it’s surrounding big brothers and sisters; Fitzroy, Collingwood, Carlton and Brunswick. Wrong and unjust is all I say, and more!

Here is my mini-guide to Fitzroy North. What to shop, what to explore and what to eat all the sunny afternoon long. Enjoy.

Melbourne: Dejour Jeans

by

Melbourne’s best kept jeans-secret is here for your eyes and your eyes only. And also your legs. And your butt. But definitely not your arms.

Dejour Jeans is special for two reasons. One: they have every colour and material your huge heart could desire. Two: they alter them so that they reincarnate as the most flattering amalgamations of thread and cotton that could grace your sweet, sweet buttocks.

This tiny, grungy and somewhat grubby shop holds all this and more. Really. They have now branched out to jackets, skirts and shorts. What else could we want but possibly… a denim hat? I think this could be in the works.

Melbourne: Carlton Wine Room

by

This is a fantastic date spot. The location is spectacular, just off the bustling Lygon Street, and so so close to pizza (piiiiizzzzzaaaaa) with D.O.C straight across the road and Pida Pipo (gelaaaaatoooo) just around the corner.

Summertime drinks in the afternoon sunset, wintertime drinks inside this cosy brick-laid establishment. Romance. Wine. Romance. Wine.

The current and delightful offer they have is: $1 Oysters. You can’t imagine what the combination of aphrodisiac and bargain can do to a girl. Uh.

The waiters are SO helpful and kind. They really make you feel welcome. Its happy days here, is all I’m saying. Have fun, my guys.

Melbourne: Vincent the Dog

Filled with natural light. Exxxxxcellent coffee. Arty, pretty and cute. Vincent the Dog is good vibes all round and its perfect for your next brunch date. Which is why you live in Melbourne- for the brunch.

The wait staff rock and so does the menu from which I would recommend the Mushroom on Toast and any of their bagels. Avocado is never a choice you regret at V-Dogs.

If you wanna catch up with your long lost mate, have an awkward first date or just chill with a paper el solo then you will be happy in this blissful little escape from the husssstle of Lygon Street.

*Hit Readings Bookstore before or after, non-negotiable for those wishing to love life super sick all day long.

Melbourne: Archie’s All Day

by

A Melbourne-cafe obsession of the moment. Cafe culture in Melbourne is fierce like Mean Girls… but this one puts up a good fight with amazing coffee, brunch and cake options. Cake. Ah cake, I shall write Haiku #567 for you later..

Back to Archies! Located on Gertrude Street, Collingwood its is your perfect morning coffee space to chill, enjoy the vibes and appreciate the well chosen outfits of the impeccably dressed waiters. Good genes all round.

Melbourne: The NGV

by

A hideaway full of treasures. This gallery is where I go when I want to disappear into wondering and wandering- my favourite sport.

Its free. Its wonderful…and it always has an amazing exhibition to attend. I love going here and imagining the artists’ hands working and moving to create these works that can be completely incomprehensible. How? Humans are capable of magic. If you ask me wingardium leviosa is basic compared to what Monet can achieve in the form of one small painting.

I’m in love with the idea of weaving through these creations. I’m in love with the possibilities that are before me. I am in awe of the entire experience. Every time. Without fail.
