Barcelona: Shopping Guide

When looking at your trip to Barcelona the first things that are probably coming to mind are sangria, tapas and all night party times. Well I am here to tell you that the next on your list while you nurse your hangover is to wander around the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter and Placa Catalunya and shop your urge to barf away. Just kidding. Or, am I?

You must clothe yourself for your back-to-back special (the sequel) at Razzmatazz. More on that later.

I have put together in this nice little guide my absolute favorites for shopping in Barcelona for the vintage and trinket lovers on a budget. This guide is for those of you who are into collecting pretty things with which to adorn yourselves. Adorn.

Adorn, I say!

Here is my collection of the where to get your hands on vintage buys as well as the main-chains. Where to find the unusual but usually interesting little shops full of art, antiques and giant pencils. Basically, this is going to be a guide for locating your newest piece of art, your Levi’s and your plastic, punk ducks.

There are three main streets that contain the best of the best:

  • Carrer de la Riera Baixa
  • Carrer D’Avinjo
  • Carrer Dels Tallers

These streets are within some of the most picturesque areas of Barcelona; El Ravel, Gothic Quarter, Ciutat Vella and El Born. I will tell you more on how to spend your time in these blissful areas later. But for now, shopping.

Carrer dels Banys Nous, 20, 08002 Barcelona

Vintage wedding dresses, antique jewelry and an entire treasure trove of trinkets from feathered head pieces to hundred year old silk and pearl buttoned gloves. You can spend hours in their shop walking amongst the objects from times long gone.

Flamingoes Vintage Kilo

Carrer de Ferlandina, 20, 08001 Barcelona

An epic collection for both male and female. Hawaiian shirts, two piece sets, Levi’s and Vintage reformed pieces made by Flamingo themselves. This store has the unique approach to pricing- all weighed up at the front counter!

Carrer de la Riera Baixa, 22, 08001 Barcelona

A beautiful collection of everything from leather bags and shoes to badass dresses from a wide range of eras. Take your time while wandering through to find the juiciest pieces- after all, that is what second hand shopping is all about!

Kilo Store

08001, Carrer de la Riera Baixa, 11, 08001 Barcelona

Vintage for boys and gals all weighed for pricing. A great collection of vintage shirts for men and dresses for the ladies.

Fauna Barcelona

Incredible handmade toys for kids. This store is epic and absolutely full to the brim with colorful animal puzzles and so much more. Buy something for a kid, or yourself. I hear that adults who play with toys are the new adults who wear black.

BCN Painting Route

The owner of this store is a wonderful gentleman that is so invested in the artists’ work that he is representing. He can tell you a story about every piece and every single artist. There are smaller affordable illustrations and sketches to your larger oil paintings. I bought an incredible blue-pen drawing of one of my favorite Gaudi buildings in the heart of Barcelona. Sigh.

Duck Store

Carrer de la Palla, 11, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

A funny shop originally from Amsterdam has a collection of ducks dressed in costumes from dragons and clowns, pirates to a David Bowie or Queen Elizabeth II duck. You may not understand why, but understanding is not always what its cracked up to be, is it? Bath-fun approved.

Roberto & Victoria

Carrer dels Lledó, 10, 08025 Barcelona / Spain

The designers work in-store creating new pieces including personalized jewelry as well as their own particular line. Badass and beautiful is all I have to say. The perfect piece to transport Barcelona home with you by your heart. Such special artists making truly breathtaking works.

Tandem Anticuario – Antigüedades Barcelona

Carrer dels Banys Nous, 19, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

You can get lost in here! There are cabinets after cabinets full of this, that and the other. If you are not in it to buy it, this shop is still a wonderful place to visit and see a little history in brooches, antique pearls and shining purses.

Wilde Store

Carrer Avinyó, 21, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

An incredible collection of quality vintage sunglasses from around the world. I love this shop for the range that they have- you can  and will find a frame to fit your face. I bet my absolute, most bottom dollar on it.

 Flamingoes Club

 Carrer d’Avinyó, 24, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

Along the same lines as all the Flamingo Store- bloody good.

Carrer d’Avinyó, 28, 08002 Barcelona Spain

This mystical shop has a great collection of jewelry and so many random objects from clocks to pendulums to candles. I love their collection of silver hoops (very hot Barcelonian woman) and brass ornaments.

Claudine Complements

Carrer Avinyó, 52, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

A modern, minimal and feminine collection of women’s clothing and delicate, handmade jewelry. Quality and a bit fancy.

Retro City

An epic maze of Vintage. You have to dig, but you cannot go wrong in this store. My advice is to sift through slowly, pay attention to colors and fabrics that you like the look of and try everything on.

 Camden Garage

 Camden, Calle Tallers, 29 Barcelona

Huuuuuuuge. Men and women’s vintage fashion up for grabs for the person willing to dig and devour shelves full to the brim with clothes from here there and everywhere. Make sure to return each item to the particular stall that you took it from- they are all different and losing stock is actually an annoying and recurring nuisance for them!

Holala and Holala Plaza

Carrer dels Tallers, 73, 08001 Barcelona

Epic collection of vintage for both men and women, though at times a little pricey. I recommend their collection of vintage Levi’s for all shapes and sizes, the mens T’s and their badass range of bottoms- skirts and pants. Uh.

Kling Tallers

Carrer dels Tallers, 16, 08002 Barcelona

Female clothing with funky prints of cool things like unicorns. This is a really affordable brand, and they are located all around the city (also in Carrer D’Avinjo).

Revolver Records

Carrer dels Tallers, 11, 08001 Barcelona

Great tunes with reasonable prices.

Las Ramblas and around the Plaça Catalunya are both extremely busy all day and night and notorious for the likely instance of pick pocketing, alas so good for a spot of shopping. Home to all of the most popular European department stores, you will be able to get your hands on the likes of Zara, Pull and Bear, H&M and Urban Outfitters. Prices are fantastic during sale times- but watch out for your bags!

Els Encants

This is a gigantic open-air flea market that start way way back in the 14th century. Open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can find literally everything you may want or need in this market from random appliances to books and clothing-  don’t forget to bargain!

Plaça Reial Market

Open 10 to 2:30 pm every Sunday and famous for its old trinkets like silver jewelry boxes, stamps and old coins.

Drassanes Market (near metro station)

Open 10 am – 8 pm on Sundays. This is a fantastic market for artisan jewelry, old clothing, toys and much more.
